Maarten Van den Nest holds a Master (MSc) in physics and a PhD in engineering. At Zimmermann & Partner, Maarten’s occupations mainly involve pre-grant prosecution, both for Europe and foreign jurisdictions (US and Asia), in technical areas such as display technology, semiconductors, charged particles optics and medical technology.
Maarten studied theoretical physics at the University of Leuven (Belgium) with a Master thesis in the field of high-energy physics and string theory. During his PhD at the Department of Electrical Engineering in Leuven, Maarten worked on quantum information processing and quantum computation. After his Ph.D., he took postdoctoral positions at the University of Innsbruck (Austria) and at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics in Garching near Munich.
